Extract from Pendle Today's website : We are proud to launch the Pendle Sports Awards for 2008 - and they promise to be bigger and better than ever! This is the borough’s chance to reward the sportsmen and sportswomen of the area for their achievements, and to show how much talent Pendle has in the world of sport. In the past three years we have found - and honoured - some of the leading lights in the Pendle sporting scene. We have also given awards to those who work hard behind the scenes without ever creating headlines of their own. The search now begins for the 2008 winners and entry forms will be appearing exclusively in this newspaper and on our website, allowing everyone the chance to nominate their own sporting superstars. The six categories for nomination this year are : • Coach of the Year • Community Club of the Year • Rising Star (under 16) • Young Volunteer (16-24) • Special Recognition • Lifetime Achievement It does not matter if they have been nominated in previous years and it does not matter if they are previous winners, if they still qualify they can be nominated again. It does not matter what sport is involved as we are looking for nominations to show the strength and breadth of the sporting tapestry of Pendle.
